STAGE MANAGER

Snow White was my first film, but stepping into it felt less like new territory and more like the next chapter of what I already love doing.

Years of working across theatre and large-scale events had prepared me for productions of any size, and the scale here didn’t phase me.

The film featured huge musical numbers and intricate sequences involving CGI characters, which required detailed planning and coordination across departments. It was a fascinating process to be part of, and an incredible introduction to filmmaking.

More than anything, Snow White reminded me that the same core skills apply, no matter the medium: clear communication, collaboration, and keeping creativity organised enough to thrive.

DESCRIPTION

A $220 million Disney live-action musical, Snow White brought together large-scale choreography, intricate set pieces, and technically complex sequences involving CGI characters and environments.

The production combined classic storytelling with cutting-edge visual effects, requiring extensive coordination between departments and months of detailed preparation and rehearsal.

ROLE

Snow White was my introduction to filmmaking and a chance to apply my stage management experience to an entirely new process. Much of what I knew from theatre still held true: preparation, communication, and teamwork. The biggest difference was how time worked. The rhythm of film can feel slower than live performance, yet every minute carries enormous pressure and cost.

I worked within the Choreography and Assistant Directing teams, coordinating rehearsals across studio and location. The film’s musical numbers were ambitious, blending live performance with CGI characters, which required detailed tracking and precise coordination across every stage of production. It was a complex process that demanded detail and a lot of collaboration between departments.

It was also one of my favourite projects to date. The creativity, the scale, and the sense of shared purpose made it an unforgettable introduction to film and a reminder of why I love what I do.
